Consultation on the future of the Independent Living Fund (ILF) in Wales

Welsh Government are seeking views on what future arrangements there should be to support those who receive payments from the Independent Living Fund (ILF) after it closes on 30 June 2015.

The UK Government will close the ILF on 30 June 2015. Responsibility and funding for meeting the needs of those in Wales who receive support from the ILF will then transfer to the Welsh Government.

Welsh Government has worked with stakeholders to develop options for future support and now they want to know what you think of them. The 4 options are:

  1. Setting up a successor body to the ILF in Wales
  2. Setting up a national independent living scheme in Wales
  3. Transferring responsibility and funding to local authorities in Wales through their normal funding mechanism; and
  4. Transferring responsibility and funding to local authorities in Wales via a special grant with conditions set by the Welsh Government.

As well as the standard version, there is also an 'everyday English' version available of the consultation documents on the Welsh Government website: http://wales.gov.uk/consultations/healthsocialcare/fund/?skip=1&lang=en
