Care Council for Wales has produced a new learning resource 'Positive Approaches: Reducing Restrictive Practices in Social Care'.
Although aimed specifically at social care workers, this
resource will be useful for people who use services and their
families, as well as managers, employers, policy makers,
commissioners, those in education and others who work in the
The focus of the resource is on enabling and ensuring best
practice using examples and scenarios for illustration. It can be
used in a variety of ways including staff supervision, induction
and training as well as to inform policy, protocols, quality
assurance and commissioning.
The resource has been structured around the values and principles
of the Social Services and
Well-being (Wales) Act and should be read alongside the Code of
Professional Practice for Social Care. It has been developed in
partnership with the social care sector.
